As long ago as 1932 there were not any domestic oxygen producing enterprises in Sverdlovsk. There was only one oxygen plant of productive capacity 20 c.v./h owned by the Russian-American Company “Ragaz” (headed by Mr.Guitar, a Frenchman ). At that time during construction of the Ural Works for Heavy-machine- building and the Chelyabinsk Tractor Works the region was experiencing deficiency of oxygen.
In 1931 the decision to build an oxygen factory was taken. When the factory was ready for operation oxygen production department was fitted out with five oxygen compressors, compressor “Borets-1500” and fractionating unit from Leningrad.
The Factory manufactured oxygen for the first time in 1935 and this year is considered the year of foundation of the Open JSC Machine-building Factory “Uralkriotekhnika”. The Factory supplied oxygen and nitrogen to the enterprises of Sverdlovsk and the region.
In 1947 the Factory started manufacturing of the first oxygen unit CK-0,5 and since 1948 the Factory was engaged in design, manufacture and delivery of the low-capacity air-fractionating units. In the fifties meeting the requirements of defense enterprises the Factory began to manufacture units ÀÄÑ-50 and 8Ã-320.
The beginning of the sixties saw the growing demand for air-fractionating units and other types of cryogenic equipment. The Factory supplied ÑÊÄÑ-30, ÌÊÄÑ-30, ÀÊÄÑ-70, ÓÊÀ-011, ÀæÊ-0,02, ÊæÀæ-0,04, ÀæÀ-0,04, Ê-0,04, ÀÊ-0,135, ÊæÀæ-0,05, ÀæÀ-0,07, ÀæÊæ-0,07, Ê-0,045, ÀæÊæ-0,06 units , including tropicalized designs, to the domestic and foreign markets.
In the sixties the Factory started producing the Dewar flasks which were delivered to a wide range of industrial enterprises beginning with space industry and ending with agriculture. The Factory manufactured Dewar flasks of 22 type-sizes.
Having studied the demand for the cryogenic equipment the Factory developed and started to manufacture cold gasifiers which enjoyed wide use in different industries : agriculture , medicine instead of high-pressure cylinders for metal welding, cutting, soldering.
Vessel bioproducts ÕÁ-0,5 is intended for storage of bioproducts , it has found wide application in breeding of pedigreed stock , in medicine for preservation of blood, bone marrow,other preparations and its operation characteristics were highly evaluated by cancer specialists.
In 1964 the Factory began manufacturing cryogenic tanks ÖÒÊ-0,5\0,25 , ÖÒÊ-1,6\0,25.
In connection with transfer to cryogenic machine-building in December 1968 the Factory was renamed into the Sverdlovsk Factory for Oxygen Machine-building and in 1976 production of gas was stopped and the Factory switched over to manufacturing of air-fractionating units and cryogenic vessels and tanks.
On the 20th November 1992 the Factory was registered as an open-type JSC and was renamed into the open JSC Machine-building Factory “Uralkriotekhnika”.
The changes in political and economic life of Russia have influenced the industrial progress of the Factory – the demand for the standard cryogenic equipment decreased, industrial and economic ties with a lot of partners were destroyed , payment schemes and financial interaction turned to be more complicated. The products manufactured by the Factory are distinguished for their high quality, technical level of execution and reliability.
However, the technical and industrial potential for new designs and developments has been preserved. Production basis of the Factory allows to manufacture , test , repair and certify the cryogenic equipment . Together with this the Factory is able to design and manufacture heat exchangers, different vessels, accessories, etc.
Open JSC Machine-building Factory “Uralkriotekhnika” delivers cryogenic equipment practically to all branches of industry. The products manufactured by the Factory are applied in scientific research, medicine, electric-vacuum industry, crime detection, power supply industry, agriculture, production of glass, metallurgy, rescue operations, nuclear industry.
The air-fractionating units manufactured by the Factory operate at all nuclear power stations of the former USSR and in Bulgaria, at a number of hydroelectric power stations in New Zealand, India, Vietnam, Iran, Yemen , Egypt, Cuba, many other countries.
The Factory delivers its products to more than 25 countries of the world, takes part in the international fairs and exhibitions where its products have been awarded diplomas. Foreign and domestic consumers appreciate the quality of the products at their true value.
Open JSC Machine-building Factory "Uralkriotekhnika" since 1980 consist by the member of the Ural chamber of commerce and industry. The Ural chamber of commerce and industry is a non-state noncommercial architecture, founded on retention combining the Russian commercial and noncommercial architectures, personal businessmen, chambers of commerce and industry of locale of activity.
